The BBC: Mystery Mob Attacks Christians In Egypt

Here's the BBC's report of a mysterious mob attacking Christians in Egypt. It's typical of the MSM's velvet-glove approach to Islam.

Headline: "Egypt: Clashes in Cairo as Christian protest attacked". No mention of by whom.

1st paragraph: "At least seven people have been injured in clashes at a Christian protest site in central Cairo...." No mention of the perpetrators.

2nd para.: "The demonstrators outside Egypt's state TV building were attacked overnight, with shots fired, petrol bombs thrown and cars set alight." No mention of by whom.

3rd: "The Christians were protesting against attacks on two churches last weekend in which 12 people died." No mention who attacked the two churches last weekend.

4th. "There has been an increase in sectarian clashes since former President Hosni Mubarak was overthrown in February." No mention of either the participants or, more importantly, the instigators. We already know that one side is Coptic Christians. Would it be too much to expect we be informed of who the other side is?

5th paragraph. "The group of protesters was attacked after they reportedly prevented a man in a car from driving through the area." No mention of by whom.

6th para.. "A group of about 100 people charged the protesters, throwing stones and petrol bombs. Police said at least two of those attacked were wounded by gunshots." No identification of the attackers.

Three more paragraphs, and still no mention of the identity of the mystery mob. The article ends with this:

"Coptic Christians make up about 10% of Egypt's 80 million population. They complain of discrimination at the hands of the Muslim majority." Oh they do, do they? No analysis of whether these complaints have any basis in fact. Maybe the Copts are just a bunch of whiners.

Miller Time or Mecca Time? For the BBC, it's definitely Mecca Time. Must. Not. Offend.

Miller Time or Mecca Time: "Red Cross Bans Itself"

Well, not quite.  For 2010, we'll have to settle for "Red Cross Bans Christmas" (UK).

Give it a few years. It's getting to the point where parody headlines write themselves. How can anyone take western society seriously when it can't stand itself?

Meanwhile, closer to home, the gals manning the Salvation Army kettle at the local Toronto Costco unfailingly wish the shoppers "happy holidays". Haven't heard a "Merry Christmas" yet. Call me old-fashioned, but I tend to favour Christian organizations willing to take a brave public stand and wish passers-by "merry Christmas".

Is it Miller Time or Mecca Time? In the U.K., it's clearly Mecca Time.

Miller Time or Mecca Time: Austrian Yodelling

 

You've heard of the offence of driving while drinking? How about yodelling while mowing?

An Austrian court has recently fined a citizen for yodeling while mowing his lawn, according to a report in The Kronen Zeitung newspaper.

Unfortunately for Helmut G., his neighbors were in the middle of a prayer when he started to yodel. The Kronen Zeitung reported that he was fined 800 Euros after judges ruled that he could have tried to offend his neighbors and ridicule their belief.

Helmut G. clarified that “It was not my intention to imitate or insult them. I simply started to yodel a few tunes because I was in such a good mood.”

Miller Time or Mecca Time? In Austria, it's Mecca Time.

The western impulse to appease Islam knows no bounds. It's getting ridiculous. And 800 Euros is not chump change.

Miller Time or Mecca Time: O Christmas Tree! (Or, Why The West Will Fail)

"FBI thwarts terrorist bombing attempt at Portland holiday tree lighting, authorities say".

This headline from an Oregon newspaper (home of the Mo-Mo bomber) tells you why the West will fail. A culture that is so apologetic and weak-kneed it cannot bring itself to call a Christmas tree a Christmas tree doesn't deserve to withstand the onslaught of muscular militant Islam.

Jesus, and Christianity, more than anyone or anything, are responsible for the freedoms of western individualism: not society, or the crowd, but "he who wills, let him take up his cross"; and, "as many as received him, to them he gave the right to become the children of God". Western individualism is founded on Christianity. If we can't even bring ourselves to acknowledge a benign, non-religious symbol of Christianity, we don't deserve to survive the onslaught of submit! surrender! Islam -- an intolerant religion that punishes apostates with death.

I know I feel uncomfortable trying to pray in the multi faith chapel at Pearson Airport. I was in there praying at Christmas time and there was a banner of a nativity scene of baby Jesus. I was using the picture to help me keep focused in my prayer. Some Muslims came in and took down the banner immediately and when they were finished they did not put it back up. Seemed a bit insensitive to me.

Yes I was still praying and also was still praying after they left. I said nothing to them when they removed it but I did go put it back up after they left. I know that some of my friends who live in Iraq who are Catholic cannot put up religious pictures in their own homes because their landlord is Muslim and will not allow it. Thye will be evicted if they do.

Miller Time or Mecca Time: Islam at Oxford College Chapel

The service was preceded by the Adhan, the Muslim call to prayer traditionally carried out by a man, which was read out by an 11-year-old girl from Marston.

The Rev Dr Andrew Teal, of Pembroke College, said he had been trying to get a Muslim Imam to deliver a service at the chapel for many years and he believed it was a first.

He said: “We wanted to do something which brought together Christianity and Islam, but not to create a third thing.

“I think what we are doing today is very unusual, certainly it’s the first time I have heard of it being done at the college.

“The two faiths are actually very close."

Except for the parts about Muslims denying Christ died on the cross (no atonement), rose from the dead (no victory over death), insisting that Christ is in no way the divine Son of the Father (no incarnation and no Trinity) and the reversion from the wonderful news of God-given salvation by grace to salvation by personal merit based on works -- other than that, they are really close.

The Reverend no doubt wanted to do something significant. He has. But not in the way he thinks. For a Christian minister to invite a Muslim imam to preach is to deny Christ.

Muslim calls to prayer and preaching at an historic Oxford College Chapel. If Christians can't even keep their places of worship sacrosanct, what chance does society at large have to stop the intrusion of Islamic culture on the West?

I ask you, is it Miller time or Mecca time?

Miller Time or Mecca Time: Hartford City Council Weighs In

The Hartford City Council thought inviting a Muslim Imam to open their September 13th session with prayer would be a great way of commemorating 9/11, or, if not exactly commemorating it, at least showing their solidarity with the Muslim community. They backed down due to the uproar, but they really, really wanted to do it.

The Hartford City Council definitely thought it was Mecca Time.

The citizens said no.  (In Canada, this would probably result in a human rights complaint, but the Americans still have a bit of fight left in them.)

Miller Time or Mecca Time: Mark Steyn Declared Unmutual

The London Community Centre has cancelled its scheduled hosting of Canada's Mark "Lights Out" Steyn; in a fit of political correctness he has been declared "unmutual" (a reference from The Prisoner) and a security risk. I'm surprised he hasn't been charged with disturbing the peace just for saying he was going to speak.

The news solidified my resolve to drive the two hours from Toronto to London on November 1st to hear him in his new venue at the Centennial Hall.  I hope if you live within a two or three hour drive you will go too. If so, see you there! -- of course, I'll be in drag; I may want to support Steyn, but I'm no fool. Just go up to the 6' 4" gal in the red wig -- it will most likely be me!

Meanwhile, Canada's Rex Murphy weighs in on the Juan Williams affair. He makes the good point that while the leaders of NPR (Steyn calls them the National Peace-be-upon-him Radio) quickly fired Williams for suggesting that Muslim-dressed plane passengers make him nervous, no one seems to give an Islamic fig that the left-wing gal who had the great idea of Draw Mohammed Day has now had to retract her idea, change her name and go in hiding -- because of the excessively peaceful reaction from enthusiastic follows of the religion of Peace. Here's his money quote: "These days, too many genuflect where others once stood and fought."

Three Ontario men face terror conspiracy charges:

Three men arrested in Ottawa on Wednesday were preparing to build improvised explosive devices for attacks in Canada, police say.

They were also raising money to fund IEDs for attacks on Canadian troops in Afghanistan, RCMP Chief Supt. Serge Therriault said on Thursday at a news conference

No mention of any religious or ideological affiliations, so we're left guessin'.  At least there's no RCMP guy insisting the accused come from all walks of life and represent the broad Canadian populace. There is a side headline saying Canadian Muslim leaders are shocked at the arrests.

"They were also raising money to fund IEDs for attacks on Canadian troops in Afghanistan."

Does Canada still have treason on the books, or did treason go out the window when feel-good, multicultural Trudeaupia came in?
