Origin Of Life: Solved!!!

Gas proportions in the Earth's atmosphere.Image via Wikipedia
A few days ago we solved the origin of the universe problem.

Now the Ball Bounces turns its lonely eyes to you turns its attention to the problem of the origin on life. How hard can it be, really? I mean, it took literally nothing to solve the origin of the universe problem.

To get life, simply add nowhere to nothing. Nothing plus nowhere (plus chance -- ya gotta have chance in your corner) = Life!

This is how it happens: Information necessary for life simply appears out of nowhere, by chance. There. Problem solved. Did you get that? Let me say it again. Embedded, communicated information -- you know, the kind of thing we normally associate with intelligence  random occurrence, simply appears out of nowhere, by chance.

It's simple. It's elegant. Do I win a Nobel?

Drat -- somebody beat me to it:
We can now address a simple question that is central to our understanding of the origin of life: Can non-living systems evolve? Can genetic information really appear out of nowhere, by chance? If the answer is no, then we're in trouble because those of us who work on the origin of life claim that is exactly what happened four billion years ago, when the first forms of life emerged from a sterile mixture of minerals, atmospheric gases, and dilute solutions of organic carbon compounds.
The answer has to be yes, because otherwise we are looking at intelligence. Article in Evolutionary News and Views that brings this to our attention, here.

The exciting news is this: with this breakthrough, scientists have at long last reconciled materialism with God, and even come up with a scientific description of the Creator!!! OK, he's a bit stubby and truncated, but here He is, God according to the latest scientific theory:

He's a real Nowhere Man,
Sitting in his Nowhere Land,
Making all his nowhere plans
for nobody.
Making all his nowhere plans
for nobody.
Making all his nowhere plans
for nobody!
Where did DNA information come from? Science circa 2011: Nowhere, man.Enhanced by Zemanta

Down With Monarchical Parasites, Boo The White Limousine (And Save The Clock Tower)!!!

Michelle Berg/Postmedia News
I'm not really a huge fan of funding glitzy visits by wealthy royals, but if it makes Quebec separatists crazy, then at least we're getting value for money spent.
MONTREAL — The protesters’ “Down-with-the-monarchy” chants competed with cries of “Will and Kate” as a crowd of several hundred waited for the Royal couple outside the Sainte-Justine children’s hospital.
Before the couple’s arrival, organizers read a manifesto, laying the blame for the “linguistic cleansing” of North America at William’s feet.
Their grievances ranged from the deportation of the Acadians(*) in 1755 to the federal government’s funding of anglophone community groups in Quebec.
At one point, the protesters interrupted their speeches to boo a passing white limousine, realizing belatedly that it contained not royalty but a wedding party....
For some reason this last line makes the Ball Bounces think of John Lennon's white tuxedo -- maybe the druggy psychedelic absurdity of the protest event (not to mention white limousines). But where would the Quebec psyche be without a centuries-old grievance to nurse and billions in annual subsidies from the dastardly Anglais to soothe their perpetual sore?

(*) I went on a tour of Acadian PEI once. The government-funded tour guide told us, with an expression of evident satisfaction on his face, how the expelled Acadians later got to kill some English in a battle south of the border. Sounds about right for Canada -- blood-lust, government-funded, as long as it's blood lust of the right kind.

Imagine the howls if it were the reverse. Speaking of "imagine"...

* * *

Imagine there's no Anglais
It's easy if you try
No one there to fund us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Speaking French patois...

And that, my friends, is the way Le Boule bounces.

The "I've Got A Secret" Kid's Theme Song: "I'm In With The It Crowd"

Coat of arms of Toronto                Image via Wikipedia
One of the dilemmas the "progressive" Toronto couple has regarding their I've-got-a-secret gender-neutral kid is this: what songs can we sing to shim/heshe/shehe? Can't sing boy songs if he's a boy; that's reinforcing gender stereotypes. Can't sing girl songs if he's a boy; that would by lying and arguably abusive. What to do, what to do?

The Ball Bounces to the rescue. Raising a kid as a genderless "it"? Here we go. To the tune of "I'm In With The In Crowd".

I'm in with the "it" crowd;
I go where the "it"crowd goes.
I'm in with the "it"crowd;
And I know what the "it" crowd knows.
Any time of the year, don’t you hear?
Dressin' fine; makin' time.
We breeze up and down the street;
We may get looks from the people we meet.

They make way day or night;
They know the "it"crowd is out of sight.
I'm in with the "it" crowd;
I know every boygirl glance
When you've in with the "it" crowd,
It's so easy to find romance!
Any time of the year, don't you hear?
If it's square, we ain't there.
We make every minute count;
Our share is always the biggest amount.
Other girlguys look like us, but the original is still the greatest.
"It" crowd!

And that's the way the Ball bounces.

The United Church of Pizza: He's A Peasant

Jesus                       Image via Wikipedia
Apparently, according to Gretta, the United Church of Canada's resident atheist-minister, Jesus was nothing more than "a first century peasant with a few charismatic gifts and a great posthumous marketing team".

Well, I would like to join Gretta's worship team. Here's my contribution.

(To the tune of She's a Woman.)

My Lord don't give me presents
I know he's just a peasant
Only wish he had to give me love forever and forever
My Lord don't give me presents
He ain't there when I get lonely
People may think that I'm only
Foolin', you know, I isn't
He's a peasant, please understand
He's a peasant, just a dead man

I wonder if liberals (or "progressives" -- because liberals aren't apostate enough for Gretta) use the term peasant to describe people today -- it sounds like a put-down to me. At any rate, if he was a peasant, he was a peasant to whom gifts from Magi were brought -- gifts of gold, incense, and myrrh, indicating he was a king, a priest, and a sacrifice. And he was a "peasant" of whom God said, "this is my Son, in whom I am well-pleased". And, of course, he was a "peasant" whom God vindicated by raising him from the dead.

Works for me.

And that's the way the Ball bounces.

Osama's Parting Shot: "Our Attacks Will Go On"

Osama's Parting Shot: "Our Attacks Will Go On"

Cue the infidel western music (It seems Islamists can't stop themselves from using western technology, inventions, and conveniences):

Every night in our dreams
We see you. We feel you.
And it bothers us you go on.

Far across the distance
And spaces between us
Eats us up to know you go on.

Near, far, wherever you are
We believe intifada goes on
Once more you open the door
And you're there in our sights
Our attacks will go on and on

Imagine There's No Children

Don Irvine with Award winner Michelle Malkin a...                                       Image via Wikipedia
Michelle Malkin has an article about the green-left's obsession with children. Those who haven't been conceived or born they want to eliminate. Those who make it through the abortion sieve, they want to indoctrinate.

You've probably heard/seen 10-10's awesomely bad environmental video that shows denier children being blown to smithereens. 10-10 thought it was great fun. Kids blow up!

Malkin covers some other ghoulish-green transgressions:
The Discovery Channel website Treehugger.com gave its "coolest environmental ad" award last year to a lobbying group that depicted the "human impact" of "climate change" with an illustration of a dead schoolgirl hanging from a noose with a melting glacier at her feet.
A dead schoolgirl hanging from a noose is "cool". I haven't fact-checked this, but is this even possible? What is it with the the atheist left's obsession with images of death?

And then there's this guy Harrison Brown who referred to all the children of the world as a "pulsating mass of maggots."

As opposed to this:

Jesus loves the little children
All the children of the world
Red and yellow black and white
They are precious in his sight
Jesus loves the little children of the world

Jesus loves the little children-maggots of the world. Hmmmm. It seems to me that what the greens and the leftists and the atheists, what the whole world needs now is...

Love, sweet love
It's the only thing that there's just too little of.

Otherwise, we are left with a barren landscape of man-the-animal, stripped of real humanity, killing his children while hoping right-to-die rights are passed by the courts in order to skip the inconvenience of the legislative process.

I suspect that the green leftists probably love John Lennon's Imagine, that great song of emancipation from Christian religious belief and the love of God so beautifully offered in the sacrifice of his Son. Here's an update:

Imagine there's no children
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the adults
Living for today...

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
Until the world's reduced to one

Read Michelle's article here.

And remember -- He's got the whole world in his hands.

Quote of the Day: "What Were All These Genes Doing Prior To The Advent Of Sponge?"

Darwinism goes all squishy on Sponges:

“It means there was an elaborate machinery in place that already had some function. What I want to know now is what were all these genes doing prior to the advent of sponge.” -- Charles Marshall, director of the University of California Museum of Paleontology in Berkeley.

Good question!  Wait a minute. This guy is probably a Creationist. In which case, stupid question!

They probably were just another "fluke bordering on the miraculous" waiting to arise.

Tune of "Blackbird":

Soggy sponges in the dead of night
Take those unformed wings and learn to fly
All your life you were only waiting for this moment to arise

Soggy sponges in the dead of night
Take these unformed eyes and learn to see
All your life you were only waiting for those genes to be set free

Sponges fly, sponges fly
Into the light of the dark black night.
