Now That's Service!

Wanted to rent a car for one day in Toronto. Saturday 7pm to Sunday 7pm. Pick up at airport, drop off at Yonge-Steeles. Noticed the Yonge-Steeles location closes at 4pm. Skype-Called to ask what the procedure is, since they close at 4pm and I'd be returning it at 7pm.

"You pay another day".

O-Kay. Thank you, Hertz!

SCAM

Most offices have a drop box for the key so you can return it after hours. This one does indeed sound like a scam. But I remember my husband intervening for a couple from the U K who has slightly misinterpreted their contract with a car rental agency, urging the clerk to give them a break.

Frances: I suspect the lady wasn't paying attention. If I had told her I would be renting at the airport at 7 pm and returning at her location at 7 pm, perhaps her answer would have been different. She put me on hold and made me feel I was bothering her to even call. Maybe she was just having a tough day.
