How To Kill An Economy, and, Carbon Dioxide Is Not A "Pollutant"

The EU goes for the carbon taxes jugular.

British Airways faces a bill of nearly €50m, the highest of any airline, when carriers around the world are brought into the European Union’s carbon emissions trading scheme next year....

The airline industry’s total bill is expected to be €1.1bn ($1.5bn) at today’s carbon prices, the study says. The whole sector may only make a $4bn profit this year, the International Air Transport Association has forecast.... 

The findings come amid a fierce row over the EU’s move to make any airline flying into and within the bloc pay for pollution.

Memo to the EU and Financial Times: Carbon dioxide is not a pollutant.

Costs will be passed on to customers, because corporations do not pay taxes -- consumers do. This will harm the struggling world economy and put yet more money in big-government hands. The world takes another notch downward, thanks to the statist left.

The Glaciers Are Growing! The Glaciers Are Growing!

Glaciers in Norway, Canada, and New Zealand are growing. Glaciers in Alaska are also growing, apparently reversing a 250-year trend of loss.

Ed Josberger, a glaciologist with the U.S. Geological Survey, says the growth is “a bit of an anomaly”, but not to be unexpected.

Remember, folks: "If it's hot, it's what we predicted; if it's cold, it's an anomaly."

What an amazing self-regulating, self-correcting, Earth we live on! It's so incredibly wonderful, it's almost like Someone made it for us to live on...

And that's the way the growing glacial Ball-of-ice bounces.

2008: The Nobel Appease Prize

Al Gore has won the Nobel Peace Prize.

I'm not sure what a slick, highly-exaggerated Powerpoint presentation on Anthropogenic Global Warming has to do with world peace, but that doesn't matter because the Nobel Committee does. According to the Committee, global warming will result in famines, droughts, civil unrest, and war.

Yikes! If you're not in the global warming camp, you are for war and the destruction of civilization as we know it. Come to think of it, Al Gore said something to that effect.

I'm not a big fan of the Nobel Peace Prize, ever since that cuddly teddy-bear of a terrorist Yassar Arafat got the honour.

I think what the West needs instead is an Appease Prize, an annual award going to the individual/organization that has done the most to placate and/or appease Muslim fundamentalists and/or other multicultural groups demanding their way of life at the expense of ours.

As for awards, awards are nice, but the award I covet is a simple "well done, thou good and faithful servant". I count myself acutely undeserving of this, but continue to pray that I might receive grace to be counted among God's elect.

May God's freshly outpoured mercy and grace be upon all who read this.

Globe Warming Strays Into the Delusional Realm

I picked up this gem concerning next week's G8 summit.

"next week’s G8 summit... would require leaders to agree to prevent global temperatures rising by more than 2 degrees Celsius..."

More and more I feel like I'm living in some alternate universe where the world has gone mad.

World leaders are not content to merely control man's minor contribution to the temperature of the globe; the goal now is to control temperature in absolute terms. Gives new meaning to the phrase, "you shall be as gods".

The developed nations of the world will need to cooperate if they intend to meet this ambitious goal. Here are my suggestions for divvying up the responsibility for controlling world temperatures:

* The US will be in charge of controlling solar activity, including sunspots and flares

* The EU will be in charge of controlling world-wide volcanic activity

* Asia will be in charge of controlling El Ninos

* India will be responsible for putting a cork in methane gas levels produced by animals, especially cattle

* Canada's role will be to grumble and complain about anything/everything the US is doing while benefiting from US defense, US protection of international waters, US acting as an inhibitor to hostile nations aggression, US market proximity to Canada, etc.

Bird Poops on President Bush -- Global Warming Blamed.

According to the CCAAA, the lone Sparrow which pooped on U.S. President George Bush on Thursday is on the front lines of global warming. I. B. Burpeen of the Climate Change Alarmist Association of America - the CCAAA - explains that scientists have been expecting BPP - bird poop phenomenon - for months:

"Basically, the warming trends we have been experiencing have loosened the bowels of our feathered friends. Unless man cuts back on C02 emissions, we can expect more airborne bird poop in the future. In fact, the skies will be raining bird poop".

Meanwhile, Climate Change deniers are expected to point out that birds have always been pooping, and that BPP is not a new phenomenon. They are expected to point out that Climate Change projections of increased bird pooping are nothing more than that -- projections.

In another development, the AOCA, the Association of Opportunistic Capitalists of America, have announced that they plan to capitalize on the expected bird poop deluge by offering a complete line of bird poop-resistant clothing, including special deflective hats and shoulder gear.

Clearly, Global Warming is real, and life on earth as we know it will never be the same.
