The Oslo Massacres: The NYT Gets Right To The Point

The New York Times gets right to the point:

OSLO — The Norwegian police on Saturday charged a 32-year-old man, whom they identified as a Christian fundamentalist with right-wing connections, over the bombing of a government center here and a shooting attack on a nearby island that together left at least 91 people dead.

Unlike when it's an Islamist attack -- then you have to wade several paragraphs in to get even a hint of the perp's alleged ideological leanings.

Christian? Right-wing? It's a banner day for the NYT. It's their lead-off sentence.

Also, have you noticed how quick the media have been to give us the tall, blond, nordic details of the perp's appearance?  You would never get this if the identifiers were swarthy, dark-eyed, middle-eastern-looking. In fact, such reportage would be denounced as racist.

Just wait now for the NYT and other outlets to assure us that Christianity is a religion of peace.

Waiting, waiting....

Marginalization of Christians and Christianity in Canada; or, to cut to the chase: "gays good, Christians bad". Repeat until second nature, then, go out and get the story!

You can file this under "media bias", or, more simply, "CBC".

In Ottawa, a crowd of as many as 18,000 people gathered to march in support of the unborn and to oppose abortion. The RCMP suggested the figure was closer to 10,000, and other experts on grid measurement thought 15,000 more accurate. Not the CBC though. They confidently explained that 5,000 people were at the peaceful gathering.

Muslims are persecuting and killing Christians in Egypt.

“We are being persecuted and killed here by Muslims,” said Bishoi Edmund, 24, a protester from the largely Christian neighborhood of Shoubra....

The attack against the church in Soul is said to be the result of tensions surrounding an interfaith love affair.

A church gets burned down because of "tensions" surrounding an interfaith "love affair"? Gee, I wonder who burned the place of worship down? And Christians had the audacity to complain and protest? And then Muslims show up and eleven people die?

For an example of biased reporting of the killings and the events leading up to them, see the NYT article, here. It amounts to the usual "let's just blame both sides equally and call it a day, shall we?".  I'll let you sort through the various points and ways the NYT obfuscate and downplay the Muslim role in church-burning and fatal protests.

Christians are getting squeezed out -- often literally to death -- of the Middle East, while the West clips its nails and wonders if it needs a manicure.

Oh yeah, and worries terribly about possible western discrimination against muslims.

Resolve.
