Welfare Muslims and the Accommodating West

Coat of arms for the municipality of Oslo (kom...                                     Image via Wikipedia
No need to plot the overthrow of the West. The West is plotting its own demise -- thanks to delusional leftist social policies.
One Iranian immigrant to Sweden expressed astonishment at his new country’s policies: “In Sweden my family encountered a political system that seemed very strange. The interpreter told us that Sweden is a country where the government will put a check into your mailbox each month if you don’t work. She explained that there was no reason to get a job.”
The statistics from Norway are even more shocking. According to a University of Oslo study, “non-Western immigrants” are ten times as likely to be on social assistance as native Norwegians.
In Germany, Muslims are four times as likely to be receiving welfare as non-Muslims.
Etc.

A lot of the spending involves welfare fraud. Apparently honesty, one of the bedrock judeo-christian virtues upon which our society was built, is not highly valued among the followers of Mohammed.

Couple this with the fact that Muslims are having babies and we are not, and if even half this article is true, we are in deep doo-doom.

Remind me again why multiculturalism is considered a good thing for Canada and the West?

Why Is There No Looting in Japan?

All cultures are equal -- it's one of the bedrock delusions assumptions that form the foundation of The New Canada™ and its glorious embrace of multiculturalism.

So, Why is there no looting in Japan?

For more on this perplexing issue, see Mark Steyn's letters. (Letter-writers to Mark's Mailbox are often better than columnists!)

Egypt's Airport Bribes: Another Multicultural Moment Gone Horribly Bad

If there were an emergency in Canada and foreigners needed to vacate, the authorities, i.e., the individual Canadians who comprise the "authorities", could be expected to be fair, honest, and helpful. Maybe chip in at their own expense, even.

And then there's Egypt.
CAIRO – Airport staff were scarce, food supplies were dwindling, flight information was non-existent — and some policemen even demanded substantial bribes before allowing foreigners to board their planes.
The going rate was a $2,000 exit fee for groups of passengers seeking to board their aircraft.

This happened more than once; so it's not a one-off.

Incidents like this remind us that Canada, living on the fumes of its anglo judeo-christian foundation, is still a great place to live -- and make us wonder what the original proponents of multiculturalism had in mind.

Lamenting PEI's Strong Cultural Norm Of "Sameness"

Confederation Bridge                          Image via Wikipedia
Although the province [PEI] welcomed its first non-European premier in 1986, when Islanders elected Joe Ghiz — whose roots extend to Lebanon, and whose son, Robert, is the current premier — the eastern province was long known for its homogeneity and “Island way of life.”
“While a sense of rootedness can be of great value, it should not render our sense of identity so inflexible that we close the doors of our minds to what we are today and what we can be in the future,” reads a 1999 report commissioned by the government, which went on to lament “a strong cultural norm of ‘sameness’” in the province.
Rational people might re-phrase the lamented  “strong cultural norm of ‘sameness’” as "strong social cohesion" and consider it a desirable characteristic.

The countries immigrates come from all seem to  exhibit a "strong cultural norm of 'sameness'. Do we lament this fact in their cultures or only in ours?

On the other hand, if the immigrants are from self-reliant, hard-working cultures, maybe they will help break the Island's strong cultural norm of welfare dependency and handouts.

Thoughts?

Let's Strike Multiculturalism and Liberal From Our Vocabularies

The Globe and Mail_0603       Image by Bobolink via Flickr
The Globe and Mail has finally caught up with conservatives and thinks its time we struck multiculturalism from our vocabulary.

I say sure, and let's strike Liberals -- the guys that brought us multiculturalism in the first place (no mention of that in the article) -- from our vocabulary at the same time.

Liberals -- they build Mirabel, then, when it's time to honor the guy who did it, name Dorval, the actual functional airport, after him.

Front Row Seat to an Execution

King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz. (2002 photo)Image via Wikipedia
This article brought back memories of some trips to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.  Occasionally there would be an article in the Jeddah paper about a public execution that had occurred the Friday before. What made the whole thing macabre was the beheading took place at the end of a Muslim worship service.

I was told that if westerners attended, they made a point of putting them in the front row, where they'd get a real good look at Saudi-style justice.

The image came to mind of a Southern Baptist service in the US or Canada ending with announcements: "at the end of the service today, we will be beheading brother Bob for adultery. Please stick around, if you can. We'll be serving strawberries and cream on the lawn afterwards...."

I just can't understand the mind that uncritically celebrates multiculturalism. To me the unwillingness to differentiate among religions and cultures is an abnegation of rationality. I suspect what is at work in many cases is an effort to deny the supremacy of one particular culture --  western judeo-christianity.

Meanwhile, raise a glass to multiculturalism, and give the sheik a wave -- "see you at the beheading"!

Miller Time or Mecca Time?

Improvised Explosive Device blast holesImage by The U.S. Army via Flickr
Three Ontario men face terror conspiracy charges:
Three men arrested in Ottawa on Wednesday were preparing to build improvised explosive devices for attacks in Canada, police say.
They were also raising money to fund IEDs for attacks on Canadian troops in Afghanistan, RCMP Chief Supt. Serge Therriault said on Thursday at a news conference
No mention of any religious or ideological affiliations, so we're left guessin'.  At least there's no RCMP guy insisting the accused come from all walks of life and represent the broad Canadian populace. There is a side headline saying Canadian Muslim leaders are shocked at the arrests.

"They were also raising money to fund IEDs for attacks on Canadian troops in Afghanistan."

Does Canada still have treason on the books, or did treason go out the window when feel-good, multicultural Trudeaupia came in?

Iran Goes Nuclear

Coat of arms of the Islamic Republic of Iran. ...Image via Wikipedia
Moral equivalencers, multiculturalists, appeasers, one-world idealists and leftists generally will be glad to hear that an Islamic state, Iran, is going nuclear.

After all if the US (which according to Obamavision is "just another nation") is nuclear, why shouldn't Iran be? If the West is nuclear, why not the Islamic world?  We're all the same, right?

Actually, in going nuclear, Iran is almost entirely indebted to western, non-Islamic technology and know-how.

Israel, which can't afford the luxury of western self-delusion, "is not amused".

Keep your eyes on the Middle-East. When you see hostile nations of the world surrounding Israel, God's time-piece, head for the hills. In the meantime, pray for the peace of Jerusalem and the security of Israel.
