How true. The western liberals' view of society is one in which all kinds of discriminations are made based on which group or collective you belong to.

Women who kill their mates or children? Assumed innocent. Men who kill theirs? Assumed culpable.

Disparagement of Mohammed or Islam? A hate crime. Disparagement of Christ or Christianity? Free speech and brave artistic expression.

Occupation of land by natives? Sacred act protected by the police. Anybody else? You're outta here.

Preston Manning's vision for Canada was the equality of every citizen (by which I took to mean the same treatment under law). I thought this was a noble goal; it was congruent with my own vision rooted in deeply held values based on the equality of persons under the law. The day the liberal media labelled this a racist statement revealing the dark racism within the hearts of Preston Manning and Reformers was the day, for me, the music died. I realized the Canada I had been brought up in, with its embodiment of anglo-saxon judeo-christian values, was not the Canada I now lived in.

We had entered the Liberal looking glass, and we are now looking through it.

A 16-year-old male faces 104 charges after being arrested in connection with a break-and-enter on Wednesday afternoon.

The teen, whose identity cannot be revealed under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is alleged to have acted with a companion...

The accused faces 47 counts of mischief, 46 counts of theft under $5,000 and eight counts of possession of property obtained by crime, among other charges.

Canada's criminal youth laws are tilted towards offenders getting off with a light sentence and no criminal record. This is why older criminals solicit youths for their criminal enterprises -- the law of unintended consequences is alive and well in Canada. Thank you, Liberal Party of Canada for Aiding and Abetting! (No wonder immigrants, coming from tough-on-crime cultures, are voting Conservative. Liberals have the criminal vote locked up, but that's about it.)

Contrast Canada with Singapore.

The crime rate in Singapore is one of the lowest in the world. In Singapore, a person who steals is not considered a victim or a troubled person; he is considered, what's the word, a thief. In Singapore, this guy would face a caning. Caning, or lashing, acts as both a strong deterrent and an unforgettable brush with the law that makes a person think twice about reoffending. It is also a way of indelibly impressing upon the offender  society's stern disapproval of criminal behaviour. "Spare the rod, spoil the child."

We need to be both tough and compassionate -- it's not either/or.

And that's the way the Ball bounces.

So, what kind of sentence should a guy convicted of 104 charges get?

Does Canada Need Justin Trudeau? Canadians Have Spoken

"I honestly don't know if me as leader is something that would help the party or the country" -- Justin Trudeau.

Justin, we asked, and Canadians have spoken.

OK, not all Canadians. I'm using this the way politicians do when they say, "Canadians want this", or "Canadians want that".

More precisely, the impartial, erudite readers of the Ball Bounces have spoken.

Here are the results.

3% of you (13) believe Justin would help the Liberals and the country. Unfortunately 3% falls into margin-of-error territory.

18% of you (71) think Justin would help the Liberals and hurt the country. So, "good for the Liberals, bad for the country".

11% of you (42) think Justin would hurt the Liberals and help the country. These people would probably say, "Run, Justin, run!".

The vast majority of you (66%, 249) simply say, walk or run, "Hey hey, ho ho; Trudeau has got to go!".

So, Justin, there you have it. Now you know.

Liberals Still Don't Get It

Still, [Liberal] Marzolini was gobsmacked. “I’ve never seen in 580 election campaigns anybody as popular as Jack Layton ... Basically, he was on a par with Don Cherry in the eyes of Canadians. He was right up there with David Suzuki and Canadians think Suzuki walks on water.”

Maybe ardent Liberals, NDP, and Greens think Suzuki walks on water. Maybe the CBC thinks he walks on water.  But Canadians in general?

This is why the Liberals lost.  They arrogantly assume the way Liberal elites think is the way Canadians think.

It's not. (But it does give me a good idea for a poll question, once the current Justin Trudeau poll runs out -- don't forget to vote!)

Toronto Star: "It Was Iggy's Fault"

The Toronto Star is bailing on Michael Ignatieff. He's the proverbial scapegoat. The Liberals' collapse had nothing, noth-ing, to do with the Liberal Party, its policies, its candidates, or its policies. The Star has analyzed the collapse and here's their conclusion: it was the Liberal leader's fault.

Extensive Star interviews with campaign insiders and politicians show a large slice of the loss must be attributed to the arrogance of the Liberal leader. In the end, a central Conservative criticism against Ignatieff — that he was arrogant — turned out to be true. 

Pigs fly and hell freezes over -- the Star uses Conservative rhetoric to advance their argument!

The Star's analysis strikes me as simplistic. The Liberal leader surely didn't decide on his own to force this election. It was the Liberals as a pack, lusting as they do for power.

Now Ignatieff Steps In It

Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff said: “Let’s not play word games with this stuff . . . There’s no such thing as an honour killing, there’s only killing and it’s a crime everywhere,” he said.

No such thing as an honour killing? Really? Tell that to Pakistan.  Or to the Muslim guy I spent an evening with in Bombay who said if his daughter fooled around he would have to kill her to protect his family's honour. (This while drinking beer in his hotel room where no-one could see him).  Let's see: it wouldn't be a crime of passion (France); it wouldn't be a "hate crime" (Canada); it wouldn't be a crime of murderous rage, or killing during a criminal act; so it must be an... honour killing.

Presumably the next time a pederast or homosexual or Christian is killed in Canada for being a pederast or homosexual or Christian we will hear this quote from the Liberal leader: “Let’s not play word games with this stuff . . . There’s no such thing as a hate crime, there’s only killing and it’s a crime everywhere”.

I think the Liberals are just "making it up" as they go along.

And that's the way the I'm-glad-I'm-not-a-Liberal Ball bounces.

Justin Trudeau: Another Reason I'm Glad I'm Not A Liberal

Justin Trudeau is "uncomfortable" with the Conservatives calling honor killings barbaric. He would prefer they avoid perjoratives.

He's uncomfortable? Imagine how those on the receiving end of an honour killing feel. Imagine how those who live in perpetual fear of being on the receiving end of an honour killing feel.

When called up on it, he retreats by saying he got tangled in semantic weeds, retracts his comment, and offers up an "if anyone has interpreted my remarks" it's-really-all-your-fault non-apology. Oh, so it's all just a matter of semantics?  What semantic weeds, exactly?

Then he says what he was really trying to get at was the cynicism of the Conservatives.

Memo to Liberals: your endless, year-in, year-out ad hominems and strawmen are getting tiresome. And your baseless accusations of cynicism are themselves rooted in a rancid cynicism Conservatives wouldn't stoop to. How stupid do you think the electorate really are?

Oh.

And that's the way the impassioned Ball bounces.

Let's Strike Multiculturalism and Liberal From Our Vocabularies

The Globe and Mail has finally caught up with conservatives and thinks its time we struck multiculturalism from our vocabulary.

I say sure, and let's strike Liberals -- the guys that brought us multiculturalism in the first place (no mention of that in the article) -- from our vocabulary at the same time.

Liberals -- they build Mirabel, then, when it's time to honor the guy who did it, name Dorval, the actual functional airport, after him.

Killing Disabled Children: They Shoot Horses, Don't They?

Rejection of God and the moral law he has imprinted on a nation has consequences.

The West's shaking off of God's fetters in the 60s lead to the humanist religion of personal rights; these rights were expressed in militant sexual immorality, the undisciplined procreation of children, easy divorce, the glorification of single-parenting (and its denying the child a father's or a mother's love while insisting all will be well) and the grand climactic sacramental rite that marks a nation that has rejected the Giver of Life: abortion.

In some of the more progressive western countries,  there is also the cutting-edge-right-to-end-it-all-when-you're-done -- euthanasia.

So, sexual libertarianism, the undisciplined procreation of children, abortion, and, when you're tired of it all, euthanasia.  And Liberals look on all of this and call it "good".

In Canada, the first province to embrace euthanasia will be la corrupte province, Quebec. The first national party to embrace it will be the NDP with the Liberals looking on, taking some polls, and wondering if they should climb on board.

So, the question is not will our moral slide continue, the question is how low will we go.  We are still, in Canada at least, living on the fumes of a past Christian society, and Christian ideas, such as how we treat our neighbour (e.g., the Good Samaritan) are still deeply imprinted on the Canadian psyche. But time and the secular hell-bent of governments will continue to erode the Christian legacy of the present course is maintained. So, time will tell.

Killing children with disabilities is in the news and "on the table".  A British commentator has come out in favor of it and it is at least considered a respectable topic of conversation.  For links, go here, or here.

Will we routinely kill our disabled children?  We already kill perfectly formed pre-born children, and we have yet to plumb the depths of the post-Christian neo-pagan mind. So, with Canadian newspapers such as the National Post now turning their lonely eyes to prostitution and euthansia-loving Amsterdam as an example to emulated, I wouldn't bet against it.

As Jeremiah said, the heart of man is desperately wicked.

A Great Day For Prostitutes and Liberals

Ontario judges, acting as usual on the basis of nothing more profound than personal likes and dislikes,  have struck down Canada's prostitution laws. Can cash-intensive government training grants, overseers, seminars, etc. etc. be far behind??

The ruling strikes down a law rooted in a high view of human beings. It represents a continuation of the slippery moral slide that Pierre Trudeau put the country on.  It will appeal to pimps, prostitutes,  johns, abortionists, and Liberals, who have been trying to make prostitution "just another career choice" for years -- hello, Hedy Fry?!

The great thing about Canada is you don't have to think about moral issues for yourself -- judges get paid to do it for you.  And we know they're uniquely qualified because they wear frilly robes and we don't.

And, hey, and what's with this politically incorrect "prostitute" talk -- it's "sex worker", bud.  Or, in the case of "it's just-another-job" Liberals, "mom",  "sis" or "daughter", maybe.

A good day for Liberals, a bad day for Canada.

IQALUIT, Nunavut — Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff launched a 24-hour visit to Iqaluit Wednesday by blasting Prime Minister Stephen Harper for failing to “translate words into deeds” on numerous issues essential to life in the Far North.

“The words from the prime minister are there. But not the action. There’s an infrastructure gap, a housing gap, there’s a self-government gap that he hasn’t closed,” Mr. Ignatieff told reporters.

File this under, "Correct me if I'm wrong, but":

If Iggy wants Nunavut to be self-governing, shouldn't he expect the Nunavuts to get on with fixing the infrastructure gap and the housing gap?
