Christmas and Abortion
Image via WikipediaGod chose the people of Israel and spent hundreds of years preparing them to be the chosen people in whose midst the Messiah of the world would be born. Through his word to them, he created a culture of life ("thou shalt not kill"); it was a culture that saw children as an heritage of the Lord, a culture that characterized what we refer to as "development of the fetus" as children being "knitted together in their mothers' wombs" by God. In other words, it was a culturally safe place for the Son of God to enter the world. Mary was ground-zero of that people and that culture.
Western leftist pro-aborts would assert Mary's absolute right to abort her child -- a Child who was intended by God. They would provide loving affirmation and support of her decision, her choice. The child wouldn't even enter into the equation.
Canada and the West would be a dangerous place for the Messiah to be conceived today.
He came into the world... to those who receive him, he gives the right to become a child of God.
Now that's a right worth considering.

Does "Science" Deny The Humanity of the Unborn?

Incredibly Bad Headline of the Day

How can a picture of a real event cross a moral line when the event itself is supposedly entirely without moral implications?
“The students have chosen a low road,” said Mr. Kerr... ”
Yeah? How about the person who had the abortion and provided the graphic images of the bruised, bloodied, dismembered fetus -- what road did she take?
Imagine this headline: "Does this woman's abortion cross a moral line?". Unthinkable. That would be insensitive. That would suggest what she did was wrong. It might even suggest there's something morally wrong with extra-marital sex So, let's make a moral issue instead about pictures.
As a society we have got our values upside down when we care more about the photo of an abortion than the abortion itself.

"Choice" Unmasked

When a B.C. couple discovered that the fetus their surrogate mother was carrying was likely to be born with Down syndrome, they wanted an abortion. The surrogate, however, was determined to take the pregnancy to term, sparking a disagreement that has raised thorny questions about the increasingly common arrangements.What is clear in this case is what was at stake was not a woman's right to control her body or choose to terminate her pregnancy -- what she (and her colluding partner) really wanted was the right to kill her unwanted offspring.
“The child is seen by the commissioning parents as a product, and in this case a substandard product because of a genetic condition,” Prof. Baylis said.The fact that they would seek to extend the right to abort an unborn child to another woman's womb shows the poverty of the "controlling my body" rhetoric; what is usually wanted in an abortion is not merely the termination of a pregnancy but the death of the innocent unborn child. And, so much for the other woman's "right to choose".
As the prophet Jeremiah said, "the heart of man is desperately wicked". The dishonesty of abortion rhetoric only adds to its wickedness.

Abortion and the Book of Revelation

But one of the central tenets of Revelation, that the devil continues to deceive mankind, is surely found in the sulphurous statement quoted in the abortion article, which says, "for most women, abortion is safer than carrying a pregnancy and having a baby".
As the abortion article indicates, many women suffer terrible psychological effects after abortions. They increase their risk of breast cancer. They kill their unborn child [at least half of whom are female] and jeopardize their soul.
People would do well to pay more, not less, attention to the book of Revelation, and its message of a heroic battle between good and evil, truth and deception, destruction and redemption. In John's companion work, the gospel of John, Jesus says concerning the devil, "The thief comes not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly."
