The Latest Blunder By The CBC

We had the CBC on in our house this morning, and for the bit I saw on the events in Libya, the CBC spent the entire segment discussing the anti-Mohammed movie which was believed to have precipitated the latest Islamic attacks against the US.

Twelve hours later the media are now reporting that these attacks were premeditated and planned, with the movie providing a mere pretext. For me, the fact that the bombing of the consulate was followed by a rocket attack on the ambassador's car -- information available this morning -- was "the first clue".

Looks like the CBC has served as a propaganda tool for the Islamists. The Islamists laid the bait, and the left-wing media fell for it -- as did Obama White House, which issued a balanced statement denouncing the movie and the murderous attack in equal measure. And, the CBC stepped in it.

And that's the way the Ball bounces.

Monkey Bites: Great Moments In Weird Newspaper Headlines

Illegal monkey living on Frosted Flakes bites woman (h/t Drudge)

For some reason it's the Frosted Flakes bit that makes this headline really twisted for me. Was it the Frosted Flakes that put the monkey over the edge? Was it a sugar-rush thing? Are Frosted Flakes considered a monkey-delicacy, and this is the monkey equivalent of saying "living high on the hog", "living in the lap of luxury"? I mean, just what is the import of the Frosted Flakes detail? What are they saying? (And where's a Hobbesian philosopher when we need one to deconstruct this for us ?)

And, call me old-fashioned, but I don't think there's any such thing as an illegal monkey; in my book he's just undocumented. America is the only country he's ever known! (I heard that line this week at the 'Crats' Convention.) And, for all I know, he may be a Canadian undocumented monkey. Where is Obama's Dream Act when it's really needed?

If Quebec doesn't stop with the threats, I'm leaving Canada. I mean it. I know I said I might 15 years ago, but this time I really mean it. I'm leaving. I'm gone. I'm outta here. Did you hear me, I'm leaving. Hello? Hello? Anybody home? Hello?

The more I read, the more convinced I become that philosophical darwinism is absolutely false, and scientific darwinism fatally flawed, i.e. insufficient to adequately explain the intricacies and, yes, complexities of life. The deeper we go, the more life reeks of design.

Another good day for intelligent design; another bad day for Dawkins.
