Celebrate Tolerance and Diversity!

Celebrate Tolerance and Diversity!

And crush the opposition.

excerpt:

A New Jersey high school teacher is under investigation after she allegedly posted a message on her private Facebook page that she opposed homosexuality because of her Christian faith.
The Union Township school district said they are investigating whether Viki Knox violated school policies when she allegedly posted remarks saying homosexuality is a sin that “breeds like cancer” and describing it as “perverted.”
Knox also complained, on her private Facebook page, that Union High School featured a display recognizing October as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender History month. The display reportedly featured photos of Harvey Milk, Neil Patrick Harris and Virginia Woolf.

Like it or not... you live in a country that allows you the freedom of speech and religion. Tolerance + diversity are laudible, but they'll never be practical.

In America and Canada, the protection of the minority from harm supersedes the right to freedom of speech. That is how the government is achieving equality buy socially engineering political correctness which will make everybody equal. You still have freedom of speech and can say whatever you want; so long as you don’t say anything bad about anyone. For example: I can say that I don’t approve of same sex marriages. This would get me fired form my job and get me a trip to a Human Rights hearing. Instead I say that I believe that marriage should be available to anyone who wants it and then I’m within the laws of free speech and not hate speech.

Another example: Blacks in America and Canada are disproportionately responsible for crime and make up a disproportional amount of the prison population. Here I have committed possible hate speech because it’s not politically correct and it subjects certain members of the community to ridicule. Instead I can say that African Americans and African Canadians have been wrongfully persecuted by the justice system thorough systemic discrimination. Now that is within the confines of freedom of speech.

I wonder if she would have gotten any flack if she claimed she a Muslim and gay marriage was contrary to the teachings of that religion?....I think not.

Nelson -- not sure where you are going with that comment.

Anon -- the gov'ts preference for the protection of minorities means that it is not even aiming for the equality of citizens -- it's aim is to promote "designated minorities". Of course it gets to define and designate the minority groups. Homosexuals go to the front of the "sexual orientation" line, with transgenders now running a close second. Pederasts -- which are just as sexually oriented as homosexuals -- don't even show up on the grid. So, it's really not about some lofty concept of equality, it's about picking the winners and losers.

NC -- the reaction certainly would have been different because the left's protective instincts towards Muslims and Islam would have kicked in. Christianity on the other hand is viewed as a blight to be suppressed or eliminated. Certainly eliminated from public life.

Anon: You can say they are wrongfully persecuted, but that doesn't necessarily mean that they've been wrongfully convicted.

RkBall: The words "private Facebook page" says it all. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and we should be thankful for it.
- Criticizing the high school that she is employeed at on FB, on the other hand, could be classified as unprofessional conduct and could constitute grounds for dismissal.

"... nothing intellectually compelling or challenging.. bald assertions coupled to superstition... woefully pathetic"
