Breaking News: USA Earthquakes NOT Blamed on Climate Change

The whole blame-everything-on-climate-change thing is not working out. Ice caps are growing; sea levels are not rising; temperatures are not soaring; it's bad out there.

Big Oil blamed instead.

Either way, Republicans, conservatives, capitalists, SUV drivers, and humanity in general are a pestilence and a bother.

Why can't everyone be a vegan environmentalist and live in a tree, like Anon1152 and me?

More: for a fair and balanced leftist view, try this.

... Toronto Star's energy reporter Tyler Hamilton (July 26, 2010) has called most industry estimates of natural gas supply "a gross exaggeration." He wrote: "Some petroleum geologists say the ‘probable' supply [in North America] is less than 20 years, and that shale gas represents maybe seven years of that supply."
In other words, the drilling and fracking endanger the groundwater, deplete rivers and lakes, and threaten earthquakes all for a quick payoff to industry, after which the local taxpayers are left with the consequences.
In February 2010, while discussing Schlumberger's proposed merger with Houston-based drilling specialist Smith International, Schlumberger CEO Andrew Gould said that shale gas production is characterized by "brute force and ignorance." That seems a fair appraisal of the entire shale gas "revolution."
Meanwhile, one of the commenters below eschews heating his home and walks everywhere!

I understand science is the last thing on a partisan conservative's mind. It's all about getting your fair share!

However, there is actual science that strongly indicates injection drilling is causing moderate earthquakes in Oklahoma and other spots. Read about it before shooting your mouth off.

Anon, thank you for your comment.

"there is actual science that strongly indicates..."

I never said there wasn't. That wasn't my point.

At the moment, my "tree" is made of concrete. Perhaps it's more of a cave.

But over the timescales relevant to climate science, the ice caps are shrinking, the sea levels are rising, and global average temperatures are soaring.

That doesn't mean we can "blame everything on climate change". I know of no serious person who does (though I'm sure you can find non-serious people out here who do... it is the internets after all). But we are changing the global climate in increasingly serious (and increasingly dangerous and unpredictable) ways.

If I were you, I'd be extremely worried.

If I were me (and believe you me: I am) I'd sit down, enjoy some gin, and look at The Way the Ball Bounces.

But climate change is real. And my way of dealing with it (and most other things) is... "maladaptive."

"We"? That's the 64 dollar question. Correlation does not prove causation.

If the Ball Bounces had its way, life-giving CO2 would always be referred to as "life-giving CO2"

Bwahahahaha.

CO2 giveth and CO2 taketh away.

If the concentration of CO2 got up to 5%, 8%, of the atmosphere you breath, you get sick and die.
