Got Her Cosmic Bases Covered...

“As I opened my hand, there was a huge gasp,” she said.... Scientists have told her what she had in her hands could be 4 to 6 billion years old."

“I was lucky, blessed, good karma,” Brenda said. “It [a meteorite] was sitting there at my toes like an Easter egg.”

Well, that says it all -- darwinian, Christian, Hindu, and pop-culture.

Pop philosophy in action.

The meteorite Brenda found is worth 20,000 bucks. Meanwhile, over at the Ball Bounces, I found myself a dime this morning and consider myself... blessed.

And that's the way the Ball bounces.

So if this poor (not so much, now)deluded person had been claiming "Thank you Jebus, you led me right to what I was looking for!", what exactly would have prompted you to write about it? Is it just the fact that your superstition was lumped in with the others that cheeses you off, or is it something else?

I liked the way she covered the bases so succinctly, without giving great thought to it. Pop philosophy in action.

In other words, EXACTLY the way that superstitious clods of all types immediately ascribe anything they don't understand or aren't willing to think about to magic, an imaginary invisible man in the sky, karma, and suchlike?

Was that two buckets of nothing that just swished by?!

I still think it would be cool to have a meteorite.

That said... I once was at the Ontario Science Centre, and saw, on a stand, a rock. The sign said "touch a rock from outer space". I looked at the rock. And hit the floor with my feet. I realized I lived on a much larger "rock from outer space." Third [big] rock from the sun.

Must've been an invisible magic man, cause I didn't see anything.

You don't hear that?

I hear and see LOTS of things, but none of it leads me to believe in magic or fairy tales.

"... nothing intellectually compelling or challenging.. bald assertions coupled to superstition... woefully pathetic"
