The G&M bloggers are having a field day with Israel's military response to the kidnapping of one of its soldiers on Israeli soil. Here is my response:
Israel wants nothing more than to exist and live in peace.
It has already lost too many of its precious sons and daughters to war.
The surrounding Arab nations want nothing more than Israel's annihilation.
The only thing that Arabs seem to understand is brute force; they view concessions as a sign of weakness. If force is the only language Arab nations understand, then Israel must speak loudly and clearly.
Israel's military response to terrorism on its soil is justified.

The Israeli response is right for them but we are starting to face our own problems. I find that I have lots of questions and not very many answers.
The Israelis have hostile neighbours cheerleading their destruction. We seem to be determined to do it to ourselves.
What should our response to homegrown terrorism be?
With the incredible chaos in two of the major Christian denominations can we consider that our originally Christian country is worth fighting for?
Should we go all touchy-feely and have a giant group hug and hope that everything will get better?
Can we ever reach an accommodation with Muslims? Should we just reject them as immigrants?
What should we do about the kind of terrorism we saw in Caledonia?
I suppose there are simple easy to understand wrong answers to most problems. The hard part is to find the right answers.
