The PM was in fine form speaking in Crapaud, PEI tonite. He mentioned how Canada has weathered the recession better than any other developed nation, and how "on top" we are basking in the medal success of the Vancouver Olympics, and Canada's influence at the G8 and G20 meetings.
He said that Canadians have good reasons to be justifiably proud of the success of our country, and we don't have to resort to cheap America-bashing like Liberal governments of old.
He mentioned a whole bunch of sensible initiatives and emphasized how the government is obstructed at every turn -- every turn -- by the scallywag Liberal-NDP-Bloc alliance. Boo! Double-boo! How could anyone oppose this PM and his sensible initiatives??!!
He said the world recovery is still fragile, with other countries having mountains of debt. The economy is Canadian's number one concern going forward.
Mike Duffy, of course, was there.
I also spotted Stephen Taylor of Blogging Tories and historian Michael Bliss.
It was also fun to spot the
I had a chance to speak with the Prime Minister for a few minutes and mentioned how I used to work with his Dad, Joe Harper, at Imperial Oil in Toronto. I told the PM his Dad was a real gentleman, which he was.
The hot-dogs were good, and there was cake to polish things off.
And that's the way the Tory Ball bounces.

That was a nice personal point.
Stephen Harper is the best Prime Minister that we have ever had in my lifetime. I guess that we are of similar longevity.
Hot dogs? Where was the clams or lobster or scallops? (real conservative)
The PM is focusing on making the country proud, that's good politics. Ignatieff and the lefty media are downers and that's bad for politics.
Did Harper fire someone not following the Tory line?
BTW, CSIS does not protect the PM it is the RCMP. They have undercover guys in crowds.
Thankyou for that down to earth praise of our prime Minister. Sounds like you had a great time with the prime Minister today.

Where, indeed!

The PM made a light-hearted comment about the media, and the Charlottetown Guardian article this morning attacked him for it. The opposition (media included) have no class.
The PM is a classy guy.
Ray Novak: Steve Harper’s Closet Confidant
He used to live above Steve Harper’s garage. Now he may be the second most powerful man in Ottawa.
“Ray is effectively the Prime Minister’s closest confidant,” enthuses one government official. “Not only as a member of his staff, but as a personal and intimate member of the Prime Minister’s life.”
