Quote of the Day: "Easy on Others, Hard on Himself"

"A pharisee is hard on others and easy on himself, but a spiritual man is easy on others and hard on himself." - A. W. Tozer

But then, there is a fairly widespread scholarly opinion that the picture of Pharisees given in the Bible is biased to the point of caricature.

Modern Rabbinical Judaism is based upon the traditions of Pharisaic Judaism (the opposing tradition being the Sadducees, the elite, priestly, wealthy and aristocratic tradition that died out shortly after the destruction of the second Temple).

There is some speculation that Jesus' teachings lie within the Pharisaic tradition.

It is amusing that numerous, generally conservative, Christian leaders have unthinkingly emulated this caricature, and are themselves "hard on others and easy on [themselves]". Though I suspect that this says more about human nature than any given religion.

A fair comment.

"... nothing intellectually compelling or challenging.. bald assertions coupled to superstition... woefully pathetic"
