"Infantile Daddy/God wish fulfillment"

The topic was the recent West Virginia mining disaster. A poster (is that the term) to the Globe and Mail "List" (is that what it's called), was quick to blame republicans and bible-thumpers for the disaster, and told everyone to stop with the "infantile Daddy/God wish fulfillment". O-K.

Here's my response:

Jesus Christ had a Daddy/God focus his entire life -- from his first recorded statement, "I must be about my Father's business", to his very last words, "Father, into your hands I commit my spirit". And he was not infantile; in fact he was a manly adult more intelligent, more emotionally balanced, and more spiritually connected than you (or I) could ever hope to be. It is recorded, "He came unto his own / and his own received him not / But whosoever received him / To them he gave the power to become the sons of God". So, when people pray to God as their Father, and find in his Son deliverance from sin and the hope of eternal life, you might want to cut them some slack. They just may know something (or Someone) that you don't.
